SAINT JOHN, N.B., Nov. 5, 2026
Saint John Industrial Parks today welcomed the findings of an economic impact analysis prepared by Jupia Consultants Inc, which estimates the proposed Beacon AI project could represent one of the largest private-sector capital investments in New Brunswick history.
According to the analysis, the proposed project represents an estimated $5.8-billion investment, excluding computing hardware. Once operational, the project could generate an estimated $54.7 million in annual provincial and municipal tax revenue, including approximately $25 million in direct municipal property taxes for the City of Saint John. In addition, the analysis highlights an anticipated 210 permanent on-site jobs once the facility is constructed and operational. These figures represent a generational opportunity to strengthen Saint John’s economy, expand the municipal tax base, and position the region within one of the world’s fastest-growing technology sectors.

“Affordability and prosperity for the Saint John region depends on our ability to attract sustainable investment that create jobs, grows the tax base, and increases livability overall for our region” said John Runcie, General Manager of the Saint John Industrial Parks. “Projects of this scale can deliver tangible benefits that will be felt across the Saint John region and New Brunswick for generations.”
Saint John Industrial Parks believes New Brunswick must continue to compete aggressively for major investment and emerging technology opportunities. Artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure represent two areas of growth expected to play an increasingly important role in Canada’s economic future.
Runcie adds, “Saint John is strategically positioned for growth. We offer industrial land, infrastructure, port access, and the workforce needed to compete on an international scale and drive growth for our region and province.”
Saint John Industrial Parks recognizes the importance of the ongoing environmental assessment and regulatory approval processes. With the necessary approvals, it has the potential to deliver significant long-term economic benefits to Saint John and the region.
